Fuel Plan Phase II – RECIPIVITY

Tastebud Pleasin’ Clean Eatin’!

Like I’ve said, ya gotta keep mixin’ it up so your tastebuds don’t get bored and feel the need to venture off the Fuel Plan.

It’s kinda like the show “Chopped”….ya gotta take the basket of ingredients you’ve been given and create something that tastes amazing! (A life lesson as well ;o) )

Here are a few more recipes from the Sutter Girl Kitchen for ya’ll to test out….

Trainito Burrito

Basically, I took the same ingredients from the “Salito Trainito” and put’em in a whole grain tortilla instead of pourin’ them over a plate of mixed greens.

Ingredients:

Salsa (At LEAST Medium Heat, if you’re in the SUTTER Kitchen!)

Mini Yellow, Red, and Orange Bell Peppers

5.50oz. Ground Turkey (All White Meat)

Red Onion

Lime (about 1/4 of it)

Spices: Coarse Salt, Coarse Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Cumin (all to taste)

1 Whole Grain Tortilla (heated in the oven)

Spray a saute pan with non-stick / no calorie cooking spray, heat the pan and add the onion to it. Once the onion has sweated, add the ground turkey stir around to cook turkey into “crumbles” – not one big blob. Add the spices, stirring them thoroughly into the ground turkey and onion mix.

While your sauteing this mixture, place the whole grain tortilla in the oven (250 degrees) just to get it heated through.

When you finish the sautee, take the tortilla out of the oven, place it on a plate and fold the mixture of ingredients into it.

New Wave Tuna

To most folks TUNA = BORING!

Well, here’s a new way to approach that little aluminum can. ;o)

Spicy Tuna Lettuce Wraps

Okay the actual Tuna mix is not all that new….it’s the same “Spicy Tuna” recipe I wrote last season, but with a new twist!

Instead of throwin’ the tuna on top of a bed of lettuce, take individual lettuce leaves (I prefer Romaine) and build lettuce wraps. In the picture above I’ve paired the Spicy Tuna mixture with sliced Hearts of Palm and Grape Tomatoes.

Here’s the Spicy Tuna recipe as a point of reference, but mix up the spices you add to the tuna as well….different curry mixes as an example.

Spicy Tuna

1 – 7oz can of Albacore, all white tuna, packed in water

1 Tablespoon of Low Fat Mayonnaise

1 Teaspoon Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce

1 Teaspoon Sriracha Garlic Sauce

Cracked Coarse Black Pepper to taste

Protein Pancakes

This is a neat trick my trainer Jim shared with the Dream Team members.

Instead of using all the egg whites as I typically do to create my large Breakfast Cloud, I save a few of the egg whites and mix them with a couple scoops of Protein Powder to make pancakes to accompany a smaller Breakfast Cloud.

In the picture above I used Chocolate Protein Powder. That’s right…Clean Chocolate Pancakes!!

However, I must say that I only made this breakfast during the off season, because I have not asked Jim how the additional protein powder would impact the amount of protein I’m alotted for a day.

Here’s the How To:

Separate 3 to 4 eggs keeping only the whites.

Whisk the egg whites with 2 scoops of protein powder until just blended.

Spray your skillet with non-stick, no-calorie cooking spray and get it super hot.

Pour your egg white / protein powder batter into the skillet until you make the size pancake you’d like.

When it starts to bubble then it’s ready to flip. Note: Don’t touch it with your spatula until it begins to bubble, or else you’ll have a “Mell of a Hess”!

Cook second side for a minute flip back over to see if it’s done to your liking and if so, plate it up and eat it up!
